A Marriage Made in Foodie Heaven

Dearly Beloved, we are gathered here today in the presence of these witnesses, to join together Home-Grown Tomatoes and Fresh Mozzarella, which is commended to be honorable among all foods; and therefore not to be entered into lightly – but reverently, deliciously, and often.

Into this holy estate these two ingredients present now come to be joined, supported by a cracker or surrounded by a sandwich. If any person can show just cause why they may not be joined together – let them speak now or forever enjoy the mutual tastiness of juicy, bright red tomatoes over smooth fresh mozzarella slices.

  1. So that means you have been liking the sandwiches I have been making for you???

I don't know what we are going to do when our tomatoe crops run out. The stuff we get in the "stores" is FAR inferior to homegrown fruit.

  7. This is our favorite variation:
Cook some good imported pasta in salt water.
    Drain it.
Pour some extra virgin olive oil on it while it is in the colander, and then shake off the excess.
Chop up fresh mozzarella and tomatoes, and put them (cold) on the hot pasta.
Add some chopped fresh basil and some freshly ground pepper.

Enjoy a very refreshing dish full of the flavors of home: I'm not sure what region it comes from, but pasta, mozzarella, pomodoro, e basilico is a very common recipe back home.
